Today we celebrated the graduation of 11 Scholar Athletes from the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy as they complete eighth grade and begin the exciting transition to high school. Academy Player Ambassador and Nationals first baseman Josh Bell delivered the commencement speech before each student walked up to the podium to receive a special, personalized jersey.
“I want to encourage each and every one of you to set goals for yourselves,” Bell said. “Know , exactly what you want to do this week, this month, this year. Don’t be afraid to write those goals down and see them on a repeated basis, whether it’s on your mirror, in a journal. If you know where you want to go in this life and you have opportunities to get there, you’ll have a voice inside your head saying, ‘Ok, this is the way I need to go for me to get to my goal.’ But it starts with writing things down. It starts with knowing exactly where you want to go. And over the course of time you’ll get better and better at it, and you’ll be better at accomplishing those goals.”
