During the month of April, Washington Nationals Philanthropies partnered with Humane Rescue Alliance as part of its Spring Forward campaign to raise support for the care of animals in shelter. On average, the cost of care for one animal is $250 during its stay with the Humane Rescue Alliance which includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, food, bedding, and toys.
In a conversation with Dan Kolko, Erica Scherzer shared:
“It’s more than just rescuing animals, it’s about providing low cost or no cost vet care… HRA has really been able to step up and help people so that your funds, your income, is not the reason you cannot keep your pet”
Throughout the month, Nationals players shared photos of their pets to support the Spring Forward campaign, and over $28,000 was raised to cover the cost of the full adoption process for 112 rescue animals.
Thank you, Nationals Fans, for your support!
