The Ford Motor Company Fund donated over 80,000 medical-grade, disposable masks to the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, the signature program of Nationals Philanthropies and a longtime community partner of the Ford Fund. Adult and children masks were distributed from the Academy campus to community members and the surrounding region during a Mask Distribution Day – part of a sweeping effort across the mid-Atlantic. The coordinated distribution is part of Ford’s #FinishStrong initiative – a public call to action encouraging Americans to pull together, protect each other and help save lives in the months ahead until COVID-19 vaccines become more widely available.
Ford employees, volunteers, and Nationals Philanthropies staff assisted with distribution efforts at the Academy. Since the onset of the pandemic, Nationals Philanthropies and the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy have received over 100,000 masks to support a safe return to play. Outreach to program participants, local schools, community partners, and area residents ensures these masks reach community members with the greatest need.
