Earlier this week, the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy spread some holiday cheer to Scholar Athletes during its annual holiday party and gift drive. Thanks to local law firm Mintz, over 100 Scholar Athletes received gifts from their wish list this holiday season. Mintz has supported the annual gift drive since 2014, contributing nearly $30,000 in holiday gifts since the event began.
For the second year in a row, former Nationals player Ryan Zimmerman and Screech stopped by to hand out gifts and join in on the fun, while Nationals outfielder Stone Garrett lent a helping hand at the cookie decorating station. The Academy transformed into a winter wonderland as students participated in holiday-themed activities like indoor “snowball” fights, stocking decorating, and reindeer games. Dozens of mentors attended the event with their mentees, making the night one to remember for each and every student.
The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy provides support and year-round programming, imparting a lasting impact on the lives of school-age children living in Ward 7 and 8.
