With off days in Major League Baseball being few and far between, players often use them to relax and recharge. However, on Thursday night, a group of Washington Nationals led by Josiah Gray decided to take this time to leave a lasting impact on the next generation.
As part of “Glow & Throw with JoJo,” Gray, Dominic Smith, Keibert Ruiz and Alex Call visited the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy for a special evening of glow-in-the-dark baseball activities with Scholar Athletes in the Academy’s HUSTLE program.
The official Player Ambassador to the Academy, Gray came up with the idea for the event as a way for Scholar Athletes to compete against and with Nationals players.
“I thought it was a lot of fun,” said Gray. “All of the guys and kids had fun. We got to do something a little different today, so I think everyone really appreciated how we can take a nice spin on baseball. I’m looking forward to doing more events like this.”
